Touch is one of our five senses and plays a key role in our perception of the world. It is also a basic human need. We crave frequent touch and demand gratification. Sexual activity with a loving partner is a wonderful way to express love and satisfy the need for touch. Loving self is equally important. One way to make love to self is by getting a massage, either therapeutic or sensual. The former is safe, predictable, unchallenging, and avoidant of much physical and emotional exposure. The latter involves risk, fear, and challenges to self in transcendent ways while demanding physical, emotional, and spiritual nakedness.

Who is she? Who is this person who dares to be brave and step outside of her comfort zone? Removing the protective cloak of clothing and draping makes her feel vulnerable. Allowing someone into her personal space makes her feel vulnerable. Knowing her body’s responses to arousal will be witnessed by another makes her feel vulnerable. Still, she lies naked on my altar regardless of risk, fear, and challenges. I bow to her. 

Her vulnerability makes the joy of intimacy more alive and more passionate. It opens the door to an experience of deep connection with a fellow human being. This experience can last a minute or a lifetime. The willingness to be vulnerable is a valuable life skill. It is portable, allowing more profound lovemaking and greater intimacy with a partner. 

Who is she? Who is this courageous woman who willingly surrenders? Is she you?
